Innovation demonstration on cotton mechanical harvesting mode

On July 29, 2022, the Institute of Cotton held a demonstrative seminar on the innovation of cotton mechanical harvesting mode at cotton innovation station in Nangong city. Other participating units were Nanjing Agricultural Mechanization Research Institute of the Ministry of agriculture and Rural Areas, and Hebei Agricultural Mechanization Technology Promotion Station.

The relatively low degree of mechanization of cotton production has always been the main bottleneck restricting the development of cotton production in Hebei Province. In recent years, through the unremitting efforts and cooperation of scientific and technological personnel in many fields, the whole process of mechanized operation has been basically realized from land preparation, sowing, weeding, fertilization, chemical control, plant protection to harvest. This demonstrative activity is mainly aimed at the problems that the cotton harvester in the Yellow River Basin cannot operate for a long time and continuously due to the heavy rain, dew, fog and frost, and the high humidity of cotton wadding. The depth discussion on how to realize "simplifying machine harvesting process, extending operation time and improving recovery efficiency" has been come up with in the activity. Experts had extensive exchanges and discussions mainly from the aspects of variety characteristics, cultivation technical specifications, cotton picking machine technology, cotton processing process, etc., and reached an agreement on the simplification of the procedure of the picking machine, functional decomposition and the follow-up of variety technology, and formulated a specific R & D technical plan, with a view to greatly extending the harvesting time and work efficiency of the picking machine
