October 14, 2020, the Institute of Dryland Farming and Hebei Danong Seed Company signed the agreement on the marketing rights transfer of the new millet variety Henggu 35 and new oilseed rape variety Hengyou 6. Both sides also discussed the future collaboration in regard to the extension of these two varieties and relative cropping system.
The responsible person of Danong Company confirmed, multi-site trials showed Henggu 35 has the characteristics of early maturity, resistance to millet blast and good grain quality; and Hengyou 6 has the characteristics of cold tolerance, lodging resistance and high yielding. Meanwhile, Institute Director Lu Guanli specified, the two sides would develop close cooperation in extending the double cropping system of oilseed rape + millet in the regions limiting underground water exploitation and help farmers to solve the problems in planting, field management, grain drying and marketing, achieving win-win results of enlarging planting area and increasing farmers’ income.
